Thomas Jefferson Yeoman was born July 13, 1847, in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. He died May 20, 1912, at his home southeast of Kingsley, aged 64 years, 10 months and 7 days.

At the age of 16 years, he moved with his parents to Carroll county, Illinois, where he was united in marriage to Mary E. Mattis, May 16, 1870. To this union were born eight children, four of whom, Edward, Mrs, J.B. Johnson, Vinna, and Orpha are still living. His wife preceded him in the spirit word Jan. 7, 1905.

He moved to Carroll, Iowa, 36 years ago and has been a resident of Plymouth and Woodbury counties for the past 21 years.

He was again married on November 20, 1909. This union was with Mrs. Matilda Brent who, with one son, three daughters, two step sons, two step daughters, and two grandchildren remain to mourn his departure.

He enjoyed an extensive acquaintance and has been a faithful member of the Church of the Brethren since 1907.

He served his country during the Civil War and was on the guard when Lincoln lay dead.

Services Thursday at 11 o’clock at the Brethren church conducted by Elder H. H. Wingert assisted by Chas. W. Eisenbise. Interment in Brethren’s cemetery.
