Former Akron Man Dies July 6 After A Long Illness

Brief mention was made in these columns last week of the passing of a former well-known Akron young man, Royal (Barney) Metz, of Denver, Colo., July 6, 1963, at the age of 53 years and 6 months, following an extended illness.

Royal Paul Metz was born January 6, 1910, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Metz, and grew to manhood here, receiving his education in the local schools. After his marriage to Miss Marie Anderson, he was employed in local stores. They moved to Denver a number of years ago and he continued in mercantile work until last April, when he entered Mercy hospital and submitted to surgery May 2nd.

Royal, or Barney, as he was generally known here, was esteemed by many friends for his genial nature and all extend sympathy to his bereaved relatives.

Surviving are his wife Marie; four brothers, Clifford of Salem, Ore.; Edward of Melrose, Ia.; Clarence of Russell, Ia.; and Lew of Moville, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Conway of Dakota City, Nebr.; and Mrs. Amelia Ross of Omaha, Nebr.

Requiem high mass was held July 8 in St. Francis de Sales Catholic church, Denver, and interment there in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
