Duwane B. Waddell, 69, of Westfield, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital following an extended illness.

Duwane B. Waddell was born June 1, 1935, in Sioux City, the son of Denver and Lydia (Borcherding) Waddell. Duwane and Beverly Hughes were united in marriage on Nov. 19, 1954, at Glendale Baptist Church in Sioux City. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last November.

He worked in construction and packing plants. Duwane started farming in 1956 and continued until his retirement. He loved farming his land and caring for his livestock.

Duwane always took loving care of his family. His family meant everything to him. He was a member of Glendale Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; two sons and their wives, Edward and Glenda Waddell of Yankton, S.D., and Elliot and Lauri Waddell of rural Westfield; a daughter, Christine Kluver of rural Le Mars; 10 grandchildren, Jason Waddell and his fiancée, Ann Weber, Courtney Waddell and her fiance Ryan Addison, Heather Waddell, Rebeka and Brett Moffatt, Tamara and Ty Schram, Jacquilyn and Travis Boie, Beau Waddell, Jessica, Scott and Curtis Kluver; five great-grandchildren, Cole and Cael Moffatt, Caden and Mackenzie Schram, and Jackson Addison; three brothers and their wives, Wesley and Bertha Waddell, Roger and Lillian Waddell, and Eugene and Karen Waddell, all of Sioux City; one sister and her husband, Dorothy and Charles Williams of Sioux City; one brother-in-law and his wife, Charles and Anna Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Karen; two sisters, Helen and Darlene; a son-in-law, Arlan Kluver; his wife's parents, Floyd and Helen Hughes; and a brother-in-law, Vincent Hughes.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) at Glendale Baptist Church in Sioux City with the Rev. Steven Miller officiating. Graveside services immediately followed the funeral at Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers were Jason Waddell, Scott Kluver, Beau Waddell, Curtis Kluver, Brett Moffatt and Ryan Addison. Honorary pallbearers were all of his grandchildren.
