HAWARDEN, IOWA – Peggy Sue Peck, 58, of Hawarden, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden with Rev. Joshua Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery at Akron, Iowa. Visitation will begin at noon Friday, with the family present beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. The family prefers memorials be directed to the Humane Society or any other animal assistance program.
Peggy Sue Peck was born June 13, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Joyce (Barger) Peck. She attended Alcester, South Dakota schools and later received her GED. Peggy worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Morningside Manor in Alcester and then at a nursing home in Elk Point. She was employed at Coilcraft in Hawarden, Iowa before she developed ill health and moved to Yankton, South Dakota. Peggy suffered a stroke in January of 2018. She did rehab in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Peggy made her home at Hillcrest Heath Care Services in Hawarden the last months of her life.
Peggy enjoyed doing many different types of crafts, crocheting, and fishing, especially for catfish. She loved to garden and grew wonderful big tomatoes.
She is survived by her loving family, mother, Joyce of Hawarden; siblings, Pamela Peck of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Penny McBride and husband Mike of Pierson, Iowa, Steve Peck and wife Melody of Tea, South Dakota; and Cathy Peck and fiancé Nick Mapes of Hawarden, Iowa; many nephews and nieces; and one great nephew.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father Bernard; and both sets of grandparents.
