Came To Plymouth County In 1871 Peter Fissel Died In 91st Year

Peter Fissel, who came to Plymouth county 75 years ago, and had lived here most of the time since, died Sunday at the home of Mrs. Bertha Voss, 19 Third Avenue SW, where he had been rooming.

Peter Fissel was born in Germany, December 2, 1855, and came to United States with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Fissel in 1856. In 1871 they settled on a farm in Hungerford township and Peter Fissel continued to farm until he retired and moved to LeMars. almost a half century ago. He conducted a hardware store in Emery, South Dakota, for a time and made several extended visits to California. He was twice married and both of his wives preceded him in death as did his two brothers, Chris and Will Fissel and a daughter. His daughter's stepson, Bertram Heckenliable, lives in Fresno, California, and funeral arrangements are awaiting word from him whether he can come to Le Mars. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
