Mrs. Helene Ludwigs

Helene J. Ludwigs, 101, lifelong resident of Sioux and Plymouth counties, died Sunday, April 9, 1989 at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John’s American Lutheran church in Le Mars with Rev. Gary Landess officiating. Burial was in Christ Lutheran church cemetery, Grant township, rural Le Mars under direction of Mauer Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Ludwigs was born July 22, 1887 in Sioux county to Diedrich and Etta (Beckman) Borchers. She married Gerd J. Ludwigs, Sept. 28, 1905 in Sioux county. She was a homemaker and member of St. John’s Lutheran church.

Survivors are two daughters, Catherine Gellerman of Le Mars and Zelma Eilers of Sheldon; three sons, George and Hilbert of Le Mars and Gerd of Akron; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; a son, Johann; four brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
