MANY ATTEND BLY FUNERAL

Was Pioneer Merchant of Medical Lake Community

Frank Bly, born at Coners, N. Y., May 24, 1857, died at his home in Medical Lake, January 14, 1929. He came to South Dakota with his parents when a small child, making the trip by ox team and covered wagon. He married Miss Etta Stinton January 1, 1878. There were six children born of this union, three of whom are living at the present time. Blanche Campbell of Ukiah, California; Lewis of Akron, Iowa; Edith Phillips of Selah, Washington. He lost his wife April 26, 1894, and married Mrs. Mary Pinckney September 9, 1895. There was one child born of this union, Edgar B., of Rawlins, Wyoming. His wife died April 1914 and he married Mrs. Lyda Jones, April 15, 1915.

Mr. Bly engaged in farming in South Dakota during the pioneer days. Later they moved to Akron, Iowa, where he engaged in business with his brother, William, for fourteen years. He came to Medical Lake in March, 1901, and settled on a farm, on the west side of the lake where he lived for ten years, leaving that to enter the general merchandise business which he conducted for about 17 years, selling out last August. He went to California for his health but as he did not improve returned to Medical Lake to finish his life in his own home among old friends and neighbors.

All of his children were at his bedside during the week of his death. He leaves to mourn his death beside his widow and children, five stepchildren: Emma McAnlay and James Pinckney of Yakima, Washington, Kate Emmertt of Alberta, Canada, Della Gilkey of Cheney and Ive Kirchoffer of Medical Lake and three brothers living in California.

The funeral services were held from the Jerue chapel on Tuesday at 12:30 o'clock. The Rev. O. A. Adams officiated, and burial was at the Fairmont cemetery, Spokane.
