MERRILL, Iowa – Amos C. Croon, 75, of Merrill, died Wednesday in Floyd Valley Hospital at Le Mars.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Merrill. The Rev. Alfred Walck will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Croon was born Aug. 16, 1909, in Nokomis, Ill. He was a retired 50 year Northwestern Railroad employee.

He married Rose Herzberg Dec. 22, 1937, in Merrill.

He was a member of St. Paul’’s Lutheran Church and was a Sunday school superintendent.

Survivors include his wife, and on sister, Verna Croon of Craig.

Amos Croon

Amos, 75, Merrill, lifelong Plymouth County resident, died Wednesday (April 3, 1985) at Floyd Valley Hospital, Le Mars, where he had been hospitalized two days after a brief illness.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church rural Merrill. Burial will be in the church cemetery, rural Merrill, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars. Pastor S. L. Walck will officiate.

Mr. Croon was born Aug. 16, 1909, at Nokomis, Ill., to Herman and Emma Meier Croon. He retired from Northwester Railroad after 50 years.

He was confirmed April 13, 1924, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Craig. His marriage to Rose Herzberg took place Dec. 22, 1937, in Johnson Township, rural Le Mars.

Survivors are his wife, Rose; a sister, Verna Croon, Craig; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
