DIES AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS
Peter H. Asmussen, 79 years of age, 4307 Filmore Street, Leeds, died Wednesday in a Sioux City hospital after an illness of three years. He had been a resident of Leeds since 1918.
Born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, July 6, 1855, Mr. Asmusssen came to the United States in 1888. He farmed near Keystone, Iowa, until 1908 when he moved to a farm east of Leeds near the south line of Plymouth county, where he built up a highly improved farm.
On May 30, 1885, Mr. Asmussen was united in marriage to Miss Annie Sass, in Germany. He was a member of the Lutheran church.
Surviving are the widow; five sons, Chris of Lakota, Iowa, William of Chelsea, Iowa, John of Sioux City, Pet of Lawton and Edward, a Sioux City policeman, and two daughters, Mrs. Lena Hackett, and Mrs. Anne Gerson, both of Sioux City.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, Sept. 14, from the resident at 2:00, and at 2:30 from Wesley Methodist church in Leeds, Rev. J.E. Feller, officiating.
