Gladys L. Bruscher

SALIX, Iowa—Gladys L. Bruscher, 72, of Salix died Thursday, April 20, 1989, in Park View Care Center in Sac City after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens with the Rev. Timothy J. Hogan officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday with a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. in Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Bruscher the former Gladys Hodge, was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Sherman and Ida (Hodge) Hughes. She attended rural schools near Le Mars and later Le Mars Central School. On Jan. 2, 1934, she married Emil Bruscher in Le Mars. The couple farmed in Marion Township, Plymouth County for eight years and moved to Sioux City in 1942. In 1978 they moved to Salix.

Mrs. Bruscher was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix and the Tabernacle Society of the church. She was a member of The Navy Mothers in Sioux City.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Emil Jr. of Sioux Falls, S.D., DAavid of Sac City and Dennis of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, John “Ray”.
