Emil Bruscher

1934 - 2017

Emil Arthur Bruscher, age 82, died at Sanford Heart Hospital on June 20, 2017. He was born on July 27, 1934 in LeMars, Iowa to Emil and Gladys (Hodges) Bruscher.

Emil attended Heelan High School in Sioux City, plumber. He then owned and operated Bruscher IA and graduated in 1952. On November 7, 1953, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Louise O'Sullivan, in Sioux City, IA.

For 17 years, Emil worked as a journeyman Trucking for the next 20 years.

In his free time, Emil loved to work on stain glass projects, camping, and had a gift for starting a conversation with almost anyone. Emil was very active in Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He frequently served as an usher and also volunteered his time to be present for Adoration.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn; children; Randall (Teri) Bruscher from Tea, SD; Cheryl (Rick) Pearson from Farnhamville, IA; Theresa (Cliff) Van Beek from Canistota, SD; Denise Bruscher from Chicago, IL; Kevin (Sheila) Bruscher from Mitchell, SD; in addition to 13 grandchildren, and 11 great- grandchildren.

Emil was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 infant children, 1 infant grandson, mother and father- in-law and 1 brother- in- law.

Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5-7pm with a Wake at 7pm with Fr. Chuck Cimpl. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 10:00am followed with burial at Hills of Rest Memorial Garden and a luncheon at the church.
