Lila M. Rees
Lila M. Rees, 89, of LeMars, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars.
Lila Mae Rees was born July 17, 1908, on the family farm near Seney, the daughter of William and Mathilda (Detloff) Rees. She was baptized and confirmed at Seney United Methodist Church. She received her education in Seney. She worked with her parents on the family farm and later continued to live and work on the farm with her brother after their parents' retirement.
She later worked as a custodian at the LeMars Community High School until her retirement in 1965. She also had cleaned homes and done child care in her home.
She has (had) a strong faith in her church and enjoyed her family and music. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in LeMars.
Survivors include two brothers, Harold Rees of Mountain Lake, Minn., and Melvin Rees of Luverne, Minn.; a sister, Cleone Dunne of Willmar, Minn.; two nephews, Robert Dunne and his wife, Lois, of Willmar, Minn., and Dennis Dunne and his wife, Sue, of Winsted, Minn.; four nieces, Ardythe Stoesz and her husband, Orv, of Denver, Colo., Rita Sterett of Luverne, Minn., Gloria Hibma and her husband, Dennis, of Worthington, Minn., and Patricia Klinglehut of Ketchikan, Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1948, her father in 1964 (error--1964), and two brothers, Orville (sic--Orval) and Wallace Rees.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in LeMars with the Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in LeMars. Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m. today (Monday) at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Pallbearers will be Tim Weidauer, Dennis Hibma, Robert Dunne, Dennis Dunne, Roland Detloff and Mike Detloff.
