Jerry Meister, 79, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s in Sioux City.

Jerry Alan Meister was born Dec. 20, 1938, on a farm near Quimby, the son of Ralph and Maxine (Rimmer) Meister. He attended country school at later high school at Union Consolidated in Plymouth County, Iowa. He graduated from Union Consolidated High School in 1957. Following high school, he attended Westmar College in Le Mars.
He was united in marriage to Phyllis Dunne on Aug. 13, 1958, at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen.
Early on, Jerry worked for JCPenney. In 1967, he began his 35-year career with Wells Dairy in Le Mars. In 2001, he retired as Vice President of Purchasing.

Jerry was a 60-year member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He served his church in many ways, including ushering and as church elder.
Through the years, he enjoyed hunting, especially pheasants and ducks. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening. He and Phyllis enjoyed traveling, golfing, and watching the NFL.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Phyllis of Le Mars; his son: Randy (Judy) Meister of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two granddaughters: Jana (Nick) Enevoldsen of Raymore, Missouri, and Danica (Dustin) McWhorter of Raymore, Missouri; three brothers: Kenneth (Betty) Meister of Wilmar, Minnesota, Mark (Joan) Meister of Correctionville, and Dan (Pat) Meister of Pierson; his in-laws: Jerry (Caryl) Dunne of Sioux City, Ron Dunne of Westminster, Colorado, and Bill (Ann) Dunne of Kingsley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph and Maxine Meister; his father- and mother-in-law: William and Edna Dunne; and his son: Scott Meister.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Tim Geitz will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m., Thursday, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present at 5 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.
Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.
