October 1, 1922—May 27, 1997Dale E. Wagner, 74 of Le Mars died May 27, at the Heritage House in Orange City from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Funeral services were May 30 at First Baptist Church in Le Mars with the Rev. George Jennings officiating. Interment was in the St. John Cemetery, rural Ireton.
Wagner was born October 1, 1922, on the family farm northeast of Oyens to Edward and Ethel (Jenkinson) Wagner. He grew up in the Oyens area, attended country school and graduated from Le Mars Central High School. Following high school, he farmed the family farm. He married Marlene Bowen on January 11, 1974, in Le Mars. He established Wagner Trucking and Corn Shelling in the early 1940s and operated the business until his retirement due to Parkinson’s disease in 1983.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Biglem Blue Lodge #322 of Orange City, and of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars.
Survivors include his wife; a sister-in-law, Mildred Wagner of Le Mars; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dawn and Wes Orban of Rapid City, South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Wagner.
