FORMER RESIDENT OF AKRON VICINITY IS SUMMONED
Alcester Union: Mrs. John C. Hendricks, who lived three miles north and two miles west of Alcester, passed away at a Hawarden hospital Thursday, July 24. She had been ill for the past year. Suffering from cancer of the stomach, and death came to relieve her suffering last Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock. She had submitted to an operation at Rochester, Minn., some months ago, but it was found at that time that nothing could be done.
Tracy Hartman was born in Iowa, April 23, 1899, and was 42 years of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage with John C. Hendricks on March 12, 1918, and to this union three children were born, one of whom preceded her in death.
Surviving are the husband and two children, Bernard and Eunice; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hartman, of Hawarden; and three sisters and five brothers, George Hartman and Mrs. George Hartman and Mrs. George Kruse, of Hawarden; William Hartman and MRS. Fred Jacobs of Akron. Mrs. Mary Helmichs of Ireton; Harry Hartman, of Alcester; John Hartman, of Chatsworth; and Alfred Hartman, of LeMars.
The Hendricks family moved from near Akron to this vicinity about three years ago; and have many friends here who extend sympathy to the family in their bereavement.
Funeral services were held at the Hawarden Lutheran church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Byers of the Alcester Lutheran church. The remains were laid to rest in the Akron cemetery.
