Earl Moir

Earl R. Moir, 81, LeMars native and lifelong resident, died early Tuesday (Feb. 2, 1988) at Floyd Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars. Rev. Dr. Robert Peters will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Wasmer Post 241, American Legion, will conduct military rites at the graveside.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Moir was born Sept. 5, 1906, in LeMars to Russell John and Lillian Harriman Moir. He was reared in LeMars and attended LeMars Central schools. He was employed for several years at the First National Bank and later, from 1951-1977, was business manager at the LeMars Clinic.

He served in the United States Army during World War 2 and was a member of Wasmer Post 241, American Legion. He was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ and was past treasurer at that church. He was a member of the LeMars Eagles Club, Aerie 1381, and was past treasurer of the Eagles Club.

His marriage to Margaret Weidenfeller took place Dec. 4, 1930, in LeMars.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Ann) Nitzchke of Orlando, Fla; two sons, Jim of LeMars and Stephen of Hot Springs, S. D.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Alice Deegan, of LeMars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael, a sister, Jessie Moir; a brother Lloyd Moir, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Moir.
