WAS OLD RESIDENT JOHN BRANGWIN LIVED HERE SINCE BOYHOOD
John Brangwin, an old and well-known resident of LeMars, died at his home on North Hubbard street on Sunday evening at half past eight. He had been in failing health since last winter and for the past five weeks had been seriously ill although able to be out and came up town occasionally. His death was due to pernicious anemia.
John Brangwin was a native of England and was born in London a son of William Brangwin and Elizabeth Cowan. His father was a soldier in the British army and early lost his life. John Brangwin was born on November 21, 1869. When he was a boy of eleven years he came with his stepfather and his mother, Mr. and Mrs. James Taylor to LeMars. They lived on a farm near Merrill and later farmed near Akron. About thirty years ago John Brangwin was united in marriage with Miss Isabelle Murphy in LeMars. Shortly after their marriage, they came to LeMars to make their home and Mr. Brangwin worked at various occupations until a few weeks ago when his health broke down.
Four children with the mother grieve for his death. They are Andrew, who is in service at Camp Dodge, John, of LeMars, Mrs. John Booth, of Alta, Iowa, and Mrs. Howard Norris, of Dawn, Mo. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Rufus Cilley, of Westfield and two half-brothers, Frank Taylor, of Westfield, and, W. J. Taylor, of Sutherland, Neb.
John Brangwin was a devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and citizen. Possessed of an agreeable personality and a strong sense of humor, he made many friends and was well liked by a large acquaintance.
The funeral will be held at the home at 2:00 o: clock and at the Presbyterian church at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
