Her mother's maiden name is Dircks or Dirks. It has been both ways in family obituaries.

Mrs. K. Siebens Services Monday

Mrs. Katherine M. Siebens, 78, longtime Plymouth county resident died Friday, July 22, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Carl Witt at 135 4th Ave. SW. She had been in ill health the past six years.

Katherine Margaretha Onken was born March 19, 1877, at Dixon, Ill. She came to Plymouth county at the age of nine. Her marriage to George S. Siebens took place March 9, 1904, at Christ Lutheran church, Grant township. The couple farmed in Grant and Washington townships until retiring to Le Mars in 1917.

Mrs. Siebens was a member of St. John’s American Lutheran church, and the Ladies Aid society.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Carl H. (Anna) Witt of Le Mars; one granddaughter, Mrs. John L. (Betty Jean) Gayer of White Sands Proving Grounds, N. M.: two brothers, Onno and Fred Onken, both of Le Mars; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Janicke, Mrs. Reinhardt (Sophia ) Fisher and Mrs. Bertha Schoenrock.

Mr. Siebens died May 20, 1949. Also preceding Mrs. Siebens in death were her parents, a brother and sister.

Funeral services were Monday, July 25, at 2 p.m. at St. John’s American Lutheran church. Intern Eugene K. Hanson officiated. Burial was in the city cemetery under the direction of Mauer’s funeral home.
