Brief Illness Proves Fatal To A. J. Thomas
Well Known Johnson township Farmer Life Long Resident In This Vicinity

Following an illness of a week A. J. Thomas, well-known farmer of Johnson township, died from a heart ailment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald MacKinnon, 521 Second avenue SE, this city, Wednesday evening.
Mr. Thomas was a lifelong resident of this vicinity. He was born near Ireton July 16, 1888, where he grew up and received his education. When a young man he worked in a grocery store at Hawarden. For the past 25 years he was engaged in farming in Johnson Town¬ship.
He was married to Miss Jessie MacKinnon January 1, 1914 at Hawarden. He is survived by his wife, and one son, James, his mother, Mrs. J. W. Nelson, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, his sister, Mrs. Bruce Holten, of Ireton, and his brother, Dr. Will Thomas of Lorimer, Iowa.
His father died when he was three years old and a sister preceded him in death six years ago.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 1:30 p. m. with services in the Plymouth church at Crathorne of which he was a member, Rev. W. E. Smith officiating, and interment made in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton.
Mr. Thomas was a good citizen, active in community and church circles and highly esteemed by a large number of friends and neighbors.
