The LeMars Sentinel gives the following account of the death of Charles Dondelinger who has relatives in Alton:
Charles Dondelinger—long time resident of the Plymouth county and well known business man of this city—died at his home on Fulton street Friday morning after a long illness. He had been sick for the past three months having been stricken with typhoid fever on August sixteenth. Other complications set in which proved fatal. Charles Dondelinger was born at St. Donatus, Iowa on June twentieth 1862 and was reared and received his early education at that place. With his parents he came to Plymouth county about thirty years ago. Charles learned the trade of harness and saddle maker and for the past fifteen years has conducted a shop on Main street. He was united in marriage in LeMars with Miss Josephine Faber on November seventh 1893. To them four children have been born—three boys and a girl. Besides the bereaved wife and children he leaves an aged mother and a brother, John Dondelinger residing south of town. He was related to a number of well known pioneer families in this locality. The funeral was held on Monday morning at the St. Joseph’s church.
