Delaine G. Plueger, 89, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, L.C.M.S. in Le Mars. Reverend Tim Geitz will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present after 5:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Delaine Gladys Buss was born March 9, 1929 on the family farm near Hoskins, Nebraska, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Neitzke) Buss. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. Delaine was the oldest of 7 children: Dennis, Eunice, Maxine, Val Dean, Diane, and Lynn.
Delaine attended grade school through the 8th grade in Hoskins, Nebraska. The family moved to Struble, Iowa on March 1, 1944. After moving to Struble, she attended high school in Maurice, Iowa. Following high school, she attended Western Union College in Le Mars where she received her teaching certificate.
She taught at country school near Rock Rapids, Iowa for one year and later in Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa for five years.
She was united in marriage to Earnest T. Plueger on October 3, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Ireton, Iowa. They were blessed with 3 children: Malinda, Myron, and Mark.
The couple farmed near Brunsville, Iowa for many years, retiring in 1994. Following their retirement, they moved to Le Mars. Earnest fought a losing battle with cancer, passing on April 24, 2003. Delaine continued living at the home until moving to an apartment at Sunrise Villa in April of 2007. In April of 2015, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
While living on the farm in Grant Township, they were members of Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township where Delaine was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher, church secretary, and was active in WELCA for many years. After moving to Le Mars, they became members of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Through the years, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed walking and doing word search puzzles. She enjoyed baking cakes for weddings and birthdays for many years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Malinda (Ted) Collins of Le Mars, IA, Myron (Jane) Plueger of Le Mars, IA, and Mark (Carolyn) Plueger of Le Mars, IA; 8 grandchildren: Jessica (Dusty) Hannah of Moville, IA, Lisa (Eric) Mayrose of Ankeny, IA, Ryann (Adam) Sanow of Sioux Falls, SD, Kacy Plueger of Sioux City, IA, Cary Collins of Austin, TX, Quinn (Melinda) Collins of Ellicot, MD, Jerad Plueger of Sioux Falls, SD, and Nicholas (Karli) Plueger of Spirit Lake, IA; 10 great grandchildren; her siblings: Dennis Buss of rural Le Mars, IA, Eunice (Dick) Koontz of Haines City, FL, Maxine Smith of Powell, OH, Val Dean Buss of rural Le Mars, IA, Diane Morehead of Salem, OR, and Lynn (LaNette) Buss of rural Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Helen Buss; her husband, Earnest T. Plueger; and her in laws: Bob Smith and Ken Morehead.
