AKRON, Iowa – Robert Hillrichs, 76, of Akron died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa, with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Hillrichs was born June 8, 1923, in Akron, the son of Henry and Kathryn (Westergard) Hillrichs. He married Shirley Cain on Dec. 12, 1947, in Ireton, Iowa. He farmed in the Akron area. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed antique John Deere machinery.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Dave Miller of Le Mars, Iowa; a son, Randy of Akron; a sister and her husband, Lois and Ervin Stevens of Centerville, S.D.; a brother and his wife, Donald and Marilyn of Fremont, Neb.; and a sister-in-law, Cornelia Hillrichs of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Darlene; a brother, Lowell; and a nephew.

Pallbearers will be Don and David Huebner, Kirk, Heath and Andy Hillrichs and David Stevens.
