Gerret Boom, Early Settler, Died July 27 In Belmont, Wisconsin

Funeral services for Gerret Boom, 83, were held Monday, July 30, at Platteville, Wis. The Rev. Dennis Long officiated at the services. Burial was in the Belmont cemetery with Masonic rites at the graveside.

Gerret Boom was born in Holland, November 25, 1867, and died July 27,, 1951, at the age of 83. He came to LeMars with his parents in 1882. Mr. Boom farmed in Union township until his retirement and then lived in LeMars and Sac county. In 1946, he went to Belmont to make his home with his nephew, Ralph Boom and family. He was a member of the Union township Presbyterian church and the Cosmos Masonic lodge in Kingsley.

The survivors are three sisters: Mrs. Bertha Brooker, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Tonia Schupp, Mountain Grove, Mo., and Mrs. Hannah Hawkins of LeMars. Two brothers, Albert, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Henry of Belmont, Wis.
