Albert Boom, 84, Is Illness Victim
A retired farmer, Albert Boom, 84, of 400 W. 3rd St., died at a local nursing home Sunday night following a long illness. He had been living in Sioux Falls since 1946.
Funeral services will be held at the Miller Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Dr. Clarence Adams officiating. Mrs. S. D. Steiber will be organist. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Six nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Born in Holland, Jan. 19, 1869, Mr. Boom came to the United States with his parents at the age of 13 and settled on a farm near Le Mars, Ia. He farmed in Kingsley, Ia., area after his marriage to Martha Fakkan on Dec. 11, 1894. They then moved to a farm near Tea in 1909 Mrs. Boom died there 14 years later. Mr. Boom had attended the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by a son, John, Sioux Falls; a brother, Henry, Belmont, Wis.; three sisters. Mrs. Henry Brucker, Omaha; Mrs. Toni Shoop (actually Schupp) Maple Grove, Mo., and Mrs. Hannah Hawkins, LeMars; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
