Mrs. Lillian Ohlson Dies of Cancer Following Long, Painful Illness
Mrs. Lillian Ohlson passed away at her home in this city, Sunday, July 6, 1930, of cancer, at the age of 71 years and 21 days.
She had been a sufferer from the malady for two years and had been bedfast for the past ten months, but bore her pain and discomfort with patience and Christian fortitude.
Lillian Hale was born June 15, 1859, at Burlington, Wisconsin, where she spent her girlhood. She came to Akron vicinity with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas Hale, about fifty-eight years ago and had lived in Akron and Sioux City most of the time since.
She leaves to mourn her departure one daughter and one son, Mrs. N. M. Hansen, of this city, and Bert V. Smith, of Sioux City; three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Hattie Vargason and Mrs. F. P. Baker of Akron, Mrs. Fred Wiliams of Hudson S.D., and Fred Hale of Washington; also nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Ohlson was a devoted and loving mother, a kind and helpful neighbor and a loyal friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. The community extends its sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Patrick’s Catholic church, conducted by Rev. Fr. J. A. Roder. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery.
Relatives and friends who came from a distance were: Bert V. Smith and family, Mrs. May McFrlan, Mrs. Shane and Mrs. Peterson and two daughters, of Sioux City; Mrs. Fred Williams and Ed Waterbury and family, of Hudson, S.D. Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Eustace, of Luverne, Iowa
