Phyllis Ann Hawkins, 88, of rural Ireton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Hawarden Regional Healthcare in Hawarden, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Merrill, Iowa. Reverend Merrill Muller will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Memorials can be made in her name to Life Skills Training Center in Le Mars.

Phyllis Ann Bryans was born July 8, 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Cobb) Bryans. She attended school in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1947. Following her schooling, she began working in Sioux City for various businesses.

She was united in marriage to Lorvan Hawkins on November 19, 1955 at Westlawn Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. They made their home on a farm southwest of Ireton, Iowa. Phyllis was a homemaker and helped Lorvan on the farm.

She was an active member of Adaville United Methodist Church where she served as the financial secretary for many years. She also taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years and was active in the Women’s Circle. She volunteered for over 25 years at Life Skills in Le Mars. Through the years, she enjoyed needlework, traveling, and tending to her vegetable garden. She and Lorvan enjoyed traveling throughout the United States visiting family and her summer vacations to Okoboji. She also enjoyed attending high school athletic events and Iowa State Football games.

Survivors include her husband of over 62 years, Lorvan of rural Ireton; 3 sons: Jim (Darlis) Hawkins of Grinnell, IA, Jeff Hawkins of Lauderdale, MN, and Bruce Hawkins of Davenport, IA; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Josh (Melissa) Hawkins of Oakland, IA, and their children, Gage and Graham, Brittney (Austin) Balik of Marion, IA, and their daughter, Adelynn, Bryan Hawkins of Davenport, IA, and Dan Hawkins of Gibbon, NE; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Florence Bryans; her brother: George Bryans; and her sister: Shirley Bryans.
