Mrs. Bertha Gries Rites Held Saturday

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 15, at 3 p. m. in the Kingsley Methodist Church for Mrs. Bertha Gries, with Rev. Myron W. Brockmeyer officiating. Mrs. Myron Brockmeyer, the organist, accompanied Mrs. Wm. Stover and Mrs. Roy Meister, as they sang "Rock of Ages " and " Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Casket bearers were all grandsons Lawrence, Kenneth, Terry, James and Jerry Gries and Wyman Wilson. Interment was made in the Kingsley cemetery, with the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Bertha Marie Gries, daughter of Peter and Augusta (Clausen) Jetter, passed away unexpectedly February 13, 1964, at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, Iowa She was born at Manilla, Iowa, July 2, 1892, and attained the age of 71 years, 7 months and 11 days.

She was united in marriage to Julius Gries at Ida Grove on January 14, 1914, and had lived in the Holstein farm community until 1931. Since that time, she has been a resident of the Kingsley community

She is survived by four sons, Ernest of Sioux City, Harry, and Rudy of Kingsley, Leroy of Oelwein; one daughter, Luella, (Mrs. Robert Wilson) of Duncombe, Iowa, 21 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and a brother, Peter Jetter of Galva

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Julius in 1960, one sister, two brothers. And four grandchildren.
