LESLIE ERNST
Leslie “Cotton” Ernst, 80, of Sloan and former Hinton resident died Saturday morning (Oct. 23, 1982) at a Sioux City hospital after long illness.
Services were 2 p.m. Monday at United Church of Christ Congregational at Sloan. Rev. David Beckerdite officiated. Burial was in Sloan cemetery. A prayer service was held at Wood Funeral Home in Sloan.
Mr. Ernst was born on April 17, 1902, at Sloan. He married Hazel Thacker on May 26, 1926, in Sioux City. They lived in Sloan until 1937, then in Hinton, Danbury and Albert City, and returned to Sloan 11 years ago. He was a retired farmer and a member of the UCC Congregational.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Beverly) Tillery of Miles City, Mont., and Mrs. Peter (Jean) Wrenn of Cleveland, Ohio; a son, Dr. Marvin L., of Greeley, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Herman (Mildred) Thacker; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Ray, and a grandson, Robert Tillery, Jr.
