Kellner Services Held Thursday
Deceased Former Resident of This Community

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church for Charles F. Kellner a former resident of this community, who passed away at his home in Kansas, on November 13th, after an illness of only a week.

Charles F. Kellner, the fourth child of B. J. and Sarah Fry Kellner, was born on January 25th, 1879, near Marengo, Iowa County, Iowa. Of a family of seven, five girls and two boys, but four survive. They are Mrs. Mamie Shearer, Morningside, Mrs. Laura Jerman, of Brookings, South Dakota, Mrs. J. Kehrberg and Mrs. Ferdinand Kehrberg, of Kingsley. Mr. Kellner was united in marriage to Miss Louise Kehrberg, at Kingsley on June 1, 1904. After spending three years in this neighborhood they moved to Parmer County, Texas where they lived for ten years. In 1907 they moved to St. Francis, Kansas, near where they were living at the time of Mr. Kellner's sudden and premature death.

To Mr. and Mrs. Kellner were born three sons, Lloyd L .and Bluford, the third child died in infancy.

Through the years Mr. Kellner had enjoyed unusual health. He was hearty and led an active out-of-door life. His business was that of ranching and stock buying. He found joy in his business and put a great deal of enthusiasm into it He early had: learned to trust his own judgment, and carve out his own life.

The Kellners united with the United Brethren church at the time of their marriage. In Texas, there was. no church in their neighborhood so the members of several denominations organized a Sunday school and church, and because a Methodist minister was available it was made a Methodist church. Later they united with the Methodist church at St Francis, later transferring their membership to Texas where they spent a number of winters.
