Mrs. Bourne dies after injuries in auto crash

Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte Bourne, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. George Episcopal Church in Le Mars. Rev. Joseph Gregori of St. Thomas Episcopal church, Sioux City, will officiate. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Mrs. Bourne, died Friday evening at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars of complications from injuries suffered Jan. 2 in an auto accident near Marcus. Her daughter, Mrs. Millicent Brauch was injured in the same accident and remains hospitalized in Le Mars.

She was born Dec. 31, 1883, in Easton, North Hampshire, England. She came to LeMars July 5, 1914, and lived here since. The former Charlotte A. Merritt, she was married to Joseph Bourne Sept. 13, 1903, in England. He died in 1957. Her parents were the late Charles W. and Harriett (Remington) Merritt. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Le Mars.

Survivors are a son, John of Iowa Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Brauch of LeMars and Mrs. Henry Poeckes. of Ames; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. E. C. Smith, Mrs. A. C. Weber, and Mrs. Matt Roerig, all of Le Mars; Mrs. J. A. Francis of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mrs. H. J Porter, of Des Moines, and Mrs. O. E. Gustafson of Fort Dodge; two brothers George Merritt of Santa Barbara and Percy Merritt of LeMars.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five brothers.
