FAMILY OF JOHN BEECK FEARS HE MAY BE AMNESIA VICTIM

A missing person alarm was sent out last night for John Beeck, 42. who farms two and a quarter mile north of Brunsville. after he faded to return to the farm yesterday.

He left the place about 10 a.m. Wednesday in the family's 1953 Chevrolet, a blue-two-tone four-door sedan. Its 1958 license number is 75-3631. He gave no indication of where he was going, and Fred Brunken. who talked to him only about half an hour earlier, reports that Mr. Beeck appeared to be in good health and good spirits.

The description given to police is as follows: Mr. Beeck is about five feet eight inches tall, weighs about 145 lbs., has light brown hair worn with a "butch" cut. He was wearing glasses and was dressed in striped coveralls, a brown jacket, and a brown cap. Mr. and Mrs. Beeck are the parents of 10 children, ranging in age from nine months to 10 years.

Mr. Brunken, father of Mrs. Beeck, told the Sentinel the family fears the missing man may be suffering a spell of amnesia. He was going to check a report that a car similar to that driven by Mr. Beeck was seen in the Oyens vicinity yesterday when he spoke to a Sentinel reporter.

The sudden turn of the weather, yesterday, after Mr. Beeck's disappearance, has caused his family concern, for he was not dressed for last night's bitter cold.

Nothing has been heard of John Beeck who disappeared from his farm home north of LeMars about a year ago. The wife and ten children have been making out as well as they could but they have had their share of hard luck which was eased as much as possible by Fred Brunken, father of Mrs. Beeck. The most recent mishap was when 13-year-old Carol Beeck was severely burned over the upper half of her body as the result of touching a blouse on top of an electric stove. She had been hospitalized several times. The other bad luck was when one of the older boys was in a car accident and was injured and one of the other boys fell from a hay stack and sustained a spleen injury.
