Henry F. Becker Old Resident Died Saturday
Came to This Locally in 1881 To LeMars 1915
Henry F. Becker, Prominent landowner, stock farmer, and insurance man died Saturday, April 12, at his home in LeMars.
Henry Becker was born in Clayton County, Iowa, February 16, 1859, and was, married to Elizabeth Klinge, November 28, 1879. They settled on a farm near Struble in 1881, where they farmed on a large scale before coming to LeMars in the spring of 1915. They were the parents of eleven children. Mrs. Becker, two sons, Henry and Louis, and an infant daughter preceded him in death. He leaves three sons, Emil Becker, Alwin Becker, of Le Mars, Helmuth Becker of Madison, S. D., and five daughters, Mrs. Amelia Carlson, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mrs. John Brangwin, Miss Lillian Becker of LeMars; Mrs. M. M. Harrison of Storm Lake and; Miss Norma: Becker of Des Moines, thirty-one grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Becker was one of the founders of the German Farmers Mutual Insurance Association of Sioux, Plymouth and Lyon counties. He served as president of the association for 53 consecutive years. During the 57 years of the association, he never suffered a loss from fire or lightning.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. at the home and 2:30 p. m. Tuesday at the American Lutheran Church in LeMars. Rev. L. L. Belk will officiate, and burial will be in the city cemetery here under the direction of the Mauer Funeral Home
