Russell M. Kisling

AKRON, Iowa—Russell Merlin Kisling, 83, of Akron and formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 1994, at the Akron Care Center after a long illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Akron. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Kisling was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Castana, the son of Fredrick and Marvena (Graybill) Kisling. He graduated from Castana High School. He was employed by Van Burskirk Construction Co. most of his life, which included working in Alaska on the Alcan Highway. He retired in 1975 due to poor health. He married Helen Boisen Dec. 19, 1940.

Mr. Kisliing was a 50-year member of the Eagles Lodge at Hawarden.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharon and her husband, Floyd Waterbury Jr. of Akron four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred of Castana; and four sisters, Phyllis and her husband, Les Dobrofsky of Castana; Mary Kisling of Onawa, Marge Dinger of Kaysville, Utah, and Elva Weyant of Baldwin Park, Calif.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Richard; and two sisters, Alice and Peggy.
