AKRON, Iowa—Mrs. Gilbert Wakeman, 81, died Thursday, July 6, 1989, at a hospital in Hawarden, Iowa, after a long illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, the Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

The former Helen Hansen was born May 2, 1908, in Akron to Nels M. and Edith Waterbury Hansen. She married Gilbert Wakeman on Oct. 1, 1929, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They farmed near Akron their entire lives and were still living on the same farm.

Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Shirley and Dareld Johnson of Paulina; seven grandsons, a granddaughter and six great-granddaughters; a brother, Ford Hansen of Akron; and two sisters, Vivian Montieth of Newcastle, Neb. and Ruth Hisel of Stuart, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers.
