Albert V. Swanson

Albert V. Swanson, 84, a former Sioux City resident, died Aug. 13 in Waynesboro, Va., after a long illness.

Services were held in Waynesboro and the body was created. Memorial services will be held later in Sioux City.

Albert Swanson was born Dec. 22, 1900, in Plymouth County. He moved to Sioux City where he worked for the Sioux Service Company as a streetcar motorman. He married Gladys Crouch Hoover on Jan. 27, 1934. He later was employed as plant superintendent of the Steffen Body Company for 35 years until his retirement. Following his retirement, he moved to Hopkins, Minn., where he devoted his time to his hobby as an artist.

Since 1981, he has lived in Waynesboro where he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Nancy Foley; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Albert V. Swanson

Memorial services for Albert V. Swanson, 84, a former Sioux City resident who died Aug. 13 in Waynesboro, Va., will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Crescent Park United Methodist Church in Sioux City.

The Rev. Dennis Tevis, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Harold Sparks of Newton, Iowa, will officiate. Burial was in Adaville Cemetery in Plymouth County, Iowa.

Mr. Swanson was a member of Crescent Park United Methodist Church before leaving Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; a daughter, Mrs. James Foley of Waynesboro; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
