Gerald L. Doran
Gerald L. "Jerry" Doran, 73, of Sioux City died Saturday, August 7, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital after a lengthy illness.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Evangelical Free Church,with the Rev. Dan Doran officiating. A private family burial will be held. There will be no visitation. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Doran was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Sioux City, the son of James and Grace (Johnson) Doran. He attended school in Sioux City and Elk Point. He also attended the Bible Institute and Seminary of the Evangelical Free Church in Chicago. He later received a degree in carpentry from Western Iowa Tech.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Guam during World War II.
He married Florence Peterson on Aug. 1, 1947, in Wausa, Neb.
He sold Dickson Study Bibles for many years, and later sold insurance. After retirement, he owned and operated a window washing service.
He was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, and served in leadership and hospital visitation.
Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives: Dan and Kandy, David and Linda, and Tim and Lori, all of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Dawn and Norman Auger, and Stacy Kosse, all of Lincoln, Neb.; six grandchildren: Eric, David, Seth, and Amber Doran, Anna and Julia Auger; and two great-grandchildren.
