Hawarden, Iowa~ Gerald Kenneth Nygard, 75, of Hawarden, died on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Unity Point Health-St. Luke’s in Sioux City, Iowa

Graveside memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family.

Gerald Kenneth Nygard was born June 26, 1940 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Howard R. and Bertha (Sommervold) Nygard. He graduated from Hawarden High School in 1958. Gerald served in the Army National Guard of Arkansas where he enlisted in August 1963 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was honorably discharged from the guard at Harrison, Arkansas on August 4, 1969. Gerald married Rosangela Gago Amaro on July 19, 2012 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was a buyer and seller of cars and cattle. Gerald enjoyed visiting with others and liked having coffee at Casey’s and talking with friends.

He is survived by his wife and other family members. Gerald made many friends over the years through his sales.
