CHATSWORTH, Iowa -- Jessie Marie Hendricks, 95, of Chatsworth passed away peacefully Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Church of Christ in Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. Beryl Hicks officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Jessie Marie Hendricks was born Aug. 9, 1908, in Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna (Jensen) Dierksen.
She married Charles Hendricks on June 23, 1926, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They would have been married for 78 years this month. She had lived in Westfield, Iowa, for one year, Akron, Iowa, for 16 years and then Chatsworth for 71 years. She was a housewife.
She was a member of First Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School and was a church pianist. She also served as the Chatsworth treasurer. She was a member of the P.C.O.C. Club of Chatsworth. In her free time, she loved cooking, her cat and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Margaret Small and Shirley and her husband, Wayne Rasmussen, all of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Donald and Dee Hendricks of Hawarden, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three grandsons, Charles Earl Small, Harley Loren Small and Donald David Hendricks.
