Ethel C. Harris, 99, of Akron, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 30, 1998, at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center following a long illness.
Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 3, 1998, at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron with Rev. Justin May officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron.
Pallbearers were Ted Miller, Brad Harvey, Tim Miller, Jim Miller, Jack Miler, Jr. and Kevin Miller.
Mika Rosenbaum was pianist. Vocalist was Tim Kelley.
Ethel was born July 5, 1899, in Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Lydia (Schroeder) Miller. She married Oliver Scott February 10, 1918. Ethel married Robert Harris October 19, 1934; he died in 1968. They made their home in Akron until moving to Sioux City in 1944. In 1946, they moved to Brunswick, Nebraska. Ethel worked at the Brunswick Nursing Home for 10 years. She moved back to Akron in 1970.
Ethel enjoyed crocheting, cooking and horticulture. She was a member of the First Church of Christ of Akron and the Hoschler American Legion Post #186 Auxiliary.
Ethel is survived by three grandchildren: Dave and Steve Scott of Brunswick, Nebraska and Lynda Spears of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eight great-grandchildren; four nephews and their wives Ted and Darlene Miller, Bill and Fran Miller, Tom and Sally Miller, and Jack and Ruth Miller al of Akron; many great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; he two husbands; three sons: Clarence, Jim and Bob Scott; two grandsons; Bobby and Kenny Scott; one daughter-in-law, Dorlee Scott; two brothers, Clarence Miller and Herb Miller; and one step-brother, Charles Chambers.
