LE MARS, Iowa - Velma G. Finch, 85, of Le Mars, formerly of Mount Ayr, Iowa, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center, Kingsley, Iowa.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley, with Monsignor Nicholas Ruba officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.
Mrs. Finch was born July 19, 1913, in Canby, Minn., the daughter of George L. and Sarah A. (Fox) Bierbower.
She married William W. Finch in 1936. The couple owned and operated Finch Produce Co. in Mount Ayr. He died Aug. 8, 1986 in Mount Ayr. She then moved to Le Mars.
She was a member of Eastern Star and held many offices. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary and was resident council president at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.
Survivors include a niece, Ann Plendl of Kingsley; a nephew, James Siple of Le Mars; a brother and his wife, Gaylen G. and Mary Bierbower of Farmington, N.M.; and other nieces and nephews.
