Dorothy Marie Dirks, a long time resident of Akron, IA, passed away to her heavenly home June 14, 2016. There will be a private family graveside burial at Riverside Cemetery in Akron next to her parents and grandparents this summer.

Dorothy was born Jan. 3, 1915, in Sergeant Bluff, IA to Marie and Clarence Husby. She later moved to Akron, where she had her own beauty shop for 40 years. She married Wilfred Dirks in 1948 and in 1980 they moved to Westminster, CA, to be by her daughter, Jackene. In 2009, both she and Jackene moved to Surprise, AZ.

Dorothy was blessed with a long, healthy life right up to the last day when she suffered a stroke. She was an avid pro-basketball fan and loved reading novels on her Kindle.

Survivors include daughter, Jackene (Bill) Davis, Erizie Brown, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was loved and will be tremendously missed by Jackene and Bill whom she resided with in their home.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred, June 13, 2000, and her grandson, Michael, in 1985.
