AKRON, Iowa -- Patricia K. "Pat" Weyen, 62, of Akron died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at her home in Akron with family and loved ones.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church ELCA with the Rev. Jean Morse officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home -- Schroeder Chapel in Akron.
Patricia K. Weyen was born Aug. 29, 1942, at Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Frances (Harvey) Rosenbaum. She was baptized into the Christian faith on March 6, 1955, at First Church of Christ in Akron. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on Jan. 16, 1983, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, Iowa. She attended school in the Akron and Westfield areas, graduating from Akron High School in 1960.
She married Darrell "Dean" Weyen on Jan. 29, 1961, at First Church of Christ in Akron.
She worked for Casey's General Store in Akron and retired from there after 21 years of service.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was actively involved with the Women of ELCA. She was a dedicated and committed volunteer of the Akron Senior Center and the Akron Care Center for many years. She enjoyed camping, crocheting and collecting Snow Villages, Avon plates and dolls. She enjoyed the times spent in the card club at the senior center. She also enjoyed helping the residents of the Akron Care Center, baking, being on the computer and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed the times spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Dean of Akron; three children and their spouses, Jeff and Sharon Weyen of Yorktown, Va., Lori and Brad Johannsen of Yankton, S.D., and Mark and Mary Jean Weyen of Chatsworth; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Stacey, Jennifer, Josh, Eric, Tony and Lindsey; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Karley; a brother, Douglas "Butch" Rosenbaum of Bismarck, N.D.; a sister, Jo Ann Coenen of Vermillion, S.D.; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Janice; and a nephew, Tim Brown.
Pallbearers will be Scott Weyen, Rick Weyen, Mick De Vos, Rick McPherson, Jeremy McPherson and Jerome Puhl.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Hitzmann, Rob Clarey, Barney Swift, Ellis Tucker and her many friends from the Akron Senior Center.
