SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- DeLoris M. Meske, 81, of South Sioux City died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at a South Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Spaulding officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Plymouth Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Brunsville, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

DeLoris was born Oct. 26, 1924, in rural Plymouth County, near Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of William A. and Lillian M. (Jeffers) Crow. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1941. She attended Normal Training School in Sioux City and later took accounting classes at Morningside College. She taught school in Plymouth and Sioux Counties until her marriage.

She married Elmer J. Meske on March 9, 1944. They lived on the farm and farmed until 1956, when they moved to Brookings, S.D., where she worked as the society editor of the Brookings Register. Later, she worked with South Dakota State University in student services. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1969. She worked at the Big Soo Terminal and later as a bookkeeper with the Benson Building and AR Blanchard Co. Elmer Meske died Aug. 20, 2003, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, the church circle and the Siouxland Crafters. She enjoyed music, playing cards, crafts, fishing, camping and playing her organ. She loved all the time she was able to spend with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Arlan (Janet) Meske of Farragut, Iowa, Ky (Pam) Meske of Omaha and Kim Meske of Sioux City; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle (Ronald) Marsh; a sister-in-law, Delores Crow of Craig, Iowa; and three brothers, Jerry Crow of Akron, Iowa, Willis Crow of Garvin, Minn., and Jack Crow of Arvada, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Frank and Jim Crow; a sister, Betty Radecky; and an infant granddaughter.
