Josephine Weidenfeller

Josephine Weidenfeller, 94, of Akron, died Thursday (March 17, 1988) at the Akron City Covalescent Care Center after a brief illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. The Rev. Timothy Schott officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph’s (renamed St. Patrick’s) Cemetery at Akro, uder direction of the Schroeder funeral home in Akron. Visitation was held Friday at the funeral home. The body was then taken to the church where the rosary was recited at 8 p.m.

Pallbearers were William Henke, Joe Nedbed, Marvin Siebens, Joohn Harnois, Richard Harnois and Thomas Harnois.

Miss Weidenfeller was born Jan. 15, 1894, in Hawarden, Iowa to Aloysius and Jacobena Ittenson Weidenfeller. She moved to the Akron area with her parents at the age of 3. She worked at the Weidenfeller Meat Market and also several years at Rohrers, Silkebakken and Dudlley Dry Goods and grocery stores. She worked for 13 years at the Akron Creamery.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was the church organist for many years.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Anna) Garvis of Jefferson, S. D., and Mrs. Hector (Mary) Harnois of Vermillion, S. D.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Tony and Carl and two sisters, Clara and Katy.
