Jerrold De Boer, 92, of Le Mars, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Thomas Jerrold De Boer was born on Nov. 8, 1924 near Maurice, the son of Roy T. and Ruth (Borgman) De Boer. He grew up in the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. He attended country schools in Sioux County and attended High School in Sioux Center.

Jerrold met Evelyn Hettinga at church while she was visiting family in the area. They were united in marriage on June 29, 1949 at the Forestville Reformed Church near Ringle, Wisconsin. They moved to a farm near Ireton, where together they farmed and raised their family.

While on the farm Jerrold was an active member of First Reformed Church in Ireton. He held many positions in the church, most notably Sunday School teacher and Elder. He sang in the choir and with a men’s quartet.

Jerrold was active with the Gideons International and spoke at many area churches. He also served on the board of Hope Haven and was active in Cursillo.

After Jerrold and Evelyn moved to Le Mars, they became members at Rejoice! Community Church.
He looked forward to his annual Minnesota Twins baseball games with his brother, Elroy and his brother-in-law, “Doc” Krommendyke. He also enjoyed golf outings with his sons and brother, Elroy.

Jerrold moved to Plymouth Manor in Le Mars in July of 2014 where he led a sing along group with the residents. Jerrold never let an opportunity to witness pass him by, he loved to talk about his Lord Jesus.

Grateful to have shared his life are his children and their children, Valerie Winecoff of Le Mars, Erin, Benjamin and Emily, Timothy (Peggy) of Sioux City, Mindy, Heather, Sarah and Timothy Jr., Lon (Mary) of Le Mars, Shawn, Travis, Jennifer and Katherine, Kevin (Lesa) of Akron, Benjamin, Seth, Matthew and Luke, Scott (Sandra) of Akron, Dustin, Billie and Elizabeth, Todd (Cathy) of Le Mars, Derick and Monica, and Brad (Cathy) of Le Mars, Shania and Joseph; 40 great-grandchildren (two more on the way); one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Sylvia Krommendyke of Worthington, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Ramona De Boer of Franklin, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Laverne, Dawn and Lavern Hettinga of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn on April 2, 2014; a sister, Vera VerHoeven; brothers, Marvin, Delmar and Elroy De Boer; a brother-in-law, Delmar (Doc) Krommendyke; and a sister-in-law, Marian De Boer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday at Rejoice! Community Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Mike Metten will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Friday. Memorials may be directed to First Reformed Church of Ireton, Rejoice! Community Church, Le Mars, or Gideons International.
