Funeral Rites August 21 For Leo William Carel
Mr. Leo William Carel of Kingsley, Iowa died at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars on Sunday, August 15, 1874, at the age of 84 years and 7 days.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, August 21, 1974 at 11:00 A. M. from St. Michaels’s Catholic Church with Rev. Father Gerald Fisch officiating Casket bearers were Messrs Cecil Kennedy, Jack Swanberg, Paul Sizma, Gerald Connor, Virgil Considline, and Larry Bowman. The acolytes were Kenny Carel and Rick Schieuer. The crossbearer was Joe Niles.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery at Le Mars with the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley in charge of arrangements. There was a CDA Rosary at the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, and a K. C. Parish Rosary at the funeral home at 8:00 p.m. that evening. Military rites were conducted at Calvary Cemetery by Nash Post No. 140 of Kingsley.
Mr. Carel was born the son of William and Elizabeth (Toomey) Carel at Le Mars on August 5, 1890. He was united in marriage t Ethel Banks on January 28, 1920, at e Mars. They farmed west of Kingsley for 27 years, and in 1946, the retired and moved into the town of Kingsley. Mr. Carel was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus, a 50-year member of Nash Post No. 140, and a Veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; 2 daughters: Mrs. Maxine Borges, of Miami, Florida; and Bonnie, of Sioux City; and 3 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, 1 daughter, and 1 sister.
