WELL KNOWN REALTOR DIES

JOHN C. KAIN WAS PROMINENT CITIZEN OF LE MARS IN EARLIER DAYS

Jas. Kain, of this city, has returned from St. Paul, Minn., where he was called by the last illness and death of his brother, John C. Kain. Mr. Kain and his brother, Frank Kain, of Creighton, Neb., attended the funeral which was held last week. They are the only two left out of a large family. The brothers came from Clinton, Iowa, to Plymouth County in the early eighties. Anther brother, the late R. H. Kain, was elected three times as mayor of Le Mars, leaving that office on his election as county treasurer, which position he held for ten years.

John C. Kain came to Le Mars in the spring of 1880 and soon after coming here was associated in the real estate bsiness with the late George E. Richardson. The firm met with great success and banched out into neighboring states, Mr. Kain going from here to Breckenridge, Minn., and later to St. Paul where he lived of the late years.

While a resident of Le Mars John C. Kain was active in business, political and social life. He was justice of the peace for several years in Le Mars. He was a man of a pleasing personality, who made many friends and was possessed of good judgment and a shrewd wit. He was successful in his business affairs and in social relations gained a great popularity among many associates.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Joseph Kain, of Chicago, Richard and a daughter, Mary, with the mother in St. Paul. His eldest son John died from the effects of gas and wounds after his return from service in France during the World War. All three of the sons served in the war.

John C. Kain was born January 27, 1853, and died Marrch 27, 1927, at the age of 74 years and two months.

Mr. Kain had been in poor health for a year and a half suffering from high blood pressure.
