Gertrude E. Blum
Gertrude E. Blum, 79, of Westfield, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1993, at the Matney Westside Manor, after a brief illness.
Services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Akron, Iowa with Monsignor Gerald F. Lyons officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Pallbearers were Jerome and Wayne Blum, Ed Utech Sr., Douglas Utech, Conrad Heider, and Ed Schoenfelder.
Mrs. Blum was born July 30, 1914, at Akron, Iowa, daughter of James E. and Anne G. (Gleason) Trautt. She and her sister owned and operated a beauty salon in Akron.
She married Francis C. Blum Jan. 29, 1946, at Akron. They moved to rural Westfield in 1950.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, Catholic Women’s League, and St. Joseph’s Guild, and the Coffee Cup Club.
Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Timothy J. and Marilyn of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Mary Anne and Paul Skelton of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Marie and Floyd Heider of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Wayne Blum, and Melissa, Janine, and Amber Skelton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Conrad and Wilford Trautt, a sister, Dorothhy Trautt, and a grandson Michael Blum.
