Aloysius B. LaVelle
Aloysius B. "Bud" LaVelle, 73, Sioux City, a retired businessman, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at a Sioux City hospital Wednesday.
Mr. LaVelle was born on Nov. 4, 1903, in Sioux county near Maurice, and he graduated from St. Mary's Catholic high school in Alton, and the LaSalle Extension University school of accounting in Chicago, Illinois.
He came to Sioux City from Minneapolis, Minn., in 1929 and worked for the Thompson Oil Co. from 1929 until 1940. He had been the manager from 1935 until 1940. From 1940 until his retirement in 1969, he worked in production control at Albertson and Co., now Sioux Tools Inc. In recent years he worked part-time as an accountant
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic church and was a former member of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Mr. LaVelle married Edith S. Coffey on Sept. 7, 1930 in Sioux City.
Survivors are his wife; four sons, Patrick J. of Omaha. Mark A. of Sioux City, Michael J. of Graettinger, and Dennis C. of Lincoln, Neb.; two daughters, Mrs. William P. (Mary) Egan of Omaha and Mrs. James (Anna ) Montagne of Las Cruces, N.M.; two brothers, Marc F. of Worthington, Minn, and Edmund E. of St. James, Minn’ one sister, Mrs. Loretta Schroeder of LeMars, and 13 grandchildren.
Meyer Bros. Colonial chapel has charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic church with Rev. Msgr. L. J. Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery at Struble.
