Mrs. Lydia Schmidt Claimed By Death
Was Wife Of Prominent Farmer Living Near Craig
Mrs. Lydia Schmidt, wife of Herman Schmidt, well known farmer, residing a quarter of a mile west of Craig, died at the hospital in Hawarden Wednesday. Her death came unexpectedly. She was recovering from an operation for appendicitis she underwent nine days previously. Complications arose and death was caused by an embolism.
Mrs. Schmidt was a lifelong resident of Plymouth county and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klemme, early settlers in Preston township, where she was born October 22, 1892. She grew up in that community and received her education in the public schools. She was united in marriage with Herman Schmidt September 22, 1910.
Her death is mourned by her husband and three children, Mrs. Rose Rostum of Chicago Heights, 111., and Clarence and Leonard, living at home. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Minnie Klemme, of LeMars, her brothers, Frederick and Walter Klemme, of Akron, her sisters, Mrs. Wm. Jurgenson of Akron and Mrs. Chas. J. Jurgenson, Madison, Minn.
Mrs. Schmidt was a devoted wife and mother and was esteemed by all who knew her.
Funeral On Saturday
The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon in St. John's Lutheran church at Craig, Rev. L. G. Hannemann, the pastor, officiating.
